METÀFORA IN THE 21st CENTURY
Metàfora was inaugurated in February 2000, in what were an old factory from the end of the 19th century. Three years earlier, in 1997, however, we had started teaching art therapy and contemporary art courses and conferences at different locations.
Metàfora’s goal was to establish the training and practice of Art Therapy in Spain, as well as, in a separate, department to introduce a new way of teaching Contemporary Art in Spain according to Northern European models.
In 1999, Metàfora established a collaboration agreement with the University of Barcelona to start a Master in Art Therapy similar to those already existing in other countries such as the United Kingdom.
In the year 2000 the Master begins. Ten years later it changes location, this time in collaboration with the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona. As of 2015, the Master is carried out independently.
During these years, Art Therapy has been establishing itself in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries, and is currently in the process of expansion.
Currently we offer a range of courses in Art Therapy ranging from Initial Courses (Foundation Courses), Advanced Diploma and Master’s level (this one just in Spanish currently).
